200 Hour Yoga Training Program

The 200 Hour Yoga Training Program at Baker Street Yoga (BSY) is an opportunity to study yourself through yoga—through anatomy, philosophy, meditation and more. The next session is just eight weekends long from March 15 to June 9, 2024.

  • The term yoga refers to a state of being as well as to the collection of practices that help us to experience that state. Humans have studied yogic sciences of the body, mind and spirit for more than 4,000 years, but modern yoga classes tend to be fitness-oriented with an overemphasis on physical benefits. This misappropriation of purpose—that yoga is a practice of becoming more flexible—leads many students to feel bored, frustrated and inadequate when their gains in strength and flexibility plateau.

Register for the 200 Hour Yoga Training Program to reconnect with the joy and freedom you felt when you discovered yoga. Immerse yourself in the rich history, context and theory that is often missing from a 75-minute yoga class. Discover a personalized approach and adapt common yoga poses to better suit your individual needs. Learn best practices to manage your own yoga business including how to teach safe, inclusive yoga classes to your family, friends and the folks at your favorite yoga studio.

  • Kristen Brunello, Matthew Dwyer and Michael Simpson developed the 200 Hour Yoga Training Program to continue their efforts to deliver authentic yoga to diverse audiences. Each has worked for more than ten years to expand yoga access to underserved populations like the elderly, the grieving, people in recovery, children, beginners and more. Additionally, each is an experienced yoga teacher with more than 1,000 hours of formal, academic yoga education, having studied rigorously with masters like Coby Kozlowski, David Harshada Wagner, Jillian Pransky, Alan Finger and others. And that’s what we love most about them: They’re experts who still consider themselves someone’s student.

The person you allow to teach you about yoga is an important choice to consider. From whom that person learned yoga matters, too. If you’ve yet to meet Michael, Matthew or Kristen, check the schedule and take class with them this week.
